Scrum Skills Series

Scrum is a very small and simple framework. Most details on how work should actually be performed has intentionally been left out of Scrum. The idea is that each situation is different. Each organization and each team has to find the ways of working that best address their specific situation.

The role of Scrum is to guide the improvement process by setting up a number of rules. If you follow the rules of Scrum, it will be very clear to you how effective your development process is and you will be able to make adjustments as needed.

In the Scrum Skills series we will publish a number of papers with hands-on advice on ways to use Scrum that we have found to work well in practise. We hope you will find this useful as you experiment your way towards a way of working that fits great for your specific situation.

Retrospectives, Part I – Getting started

This paper covers a framework for running Scrum retrospectives.

The retrospective is split into a number of short activities. For each activity we explain what the purpose of the activity and the details on how to perform it. Retrospectives are usually run by ScrumMasters. This paper also contains a lot of facilitation tips for them.
